For the last 10 days, the residents of Indiranagar 14th cross II stage have been left at the mercy of the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) officials. Drinking water supplied to the area has been contaminated with sewage, complain the residents.
This is not an isolated case. Some of the residents of Lavanya Residency near Victoria Layout are blaming the stormwater drains for water contamination.
While the residents of Indiranagar are unable to digest the fact that despite several complaints lodged with both the BWSSB and the Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BMP), the officials have failed to take any action.
“We even gave them (BMP) a sample of the water on June 7. But no action has been taken till date,” said C Daniel, a resident of Ward 72.
Another noisome concern is the brimming manholes, which are threatening to overflow any moment. “We hope the BMP clears the manholes before they overflow,” adds Daniel.
