Some of those cafes and small eateries that the hip and happening crowd of the city had taken a fetish for in the recent days are no longer there.

Among them are the Barista joint at Barton Center on MG Road, the cafes and outlets that dotted the outer precincts of the nearby Garuda Mall and Bangalore Central and the Sunday to Monday in Koramangala.

The BMP cracked down on them on Friday. BMP officers noted that these joints and the structures that housed them were located in the setback area of their respective buildings.

They are unauthorised and the encroachments hamper emergency operations, official sources explained.
