We will work for the success of `B-TRAC 2010', says Commissioner K. Jairaj

BANGALORE: The Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BMP) will make all efforts to make the Bangalore Traffic Improvement Programme "B-TRAC 2010" a success, BMP Commissioner K. Jairaj said.

Speaking after the launch of "B-TRAC 2010" here on Thursday, the Commissioner said the BMP would start work on road engineering immediately. "We have started work on restoration of footpaths. We will soon take up work to upgrade roads that have been left out during asphalting," he said.

Pointing out that road engineering involved improvement of drains, redesigning of junctions, asphalting, medians, road marking and right of way clearance, Mr. Jairaj asserted that the BMP would make all efforts in completing its job within the stipulated time.

Parking

The City Police Commissioner Ajai Kumar Singh has reiterated the need for introducing the "pay and park" system in the city.

"We have submitted to the BMP the list of roads where it is essential to have disciplined parking. But there is no communication from the BMP as yet. Unless they take the initiative, we cannot do anything," he told The Hindu on the sidelines of the launch of "B-TRAC 2010".
