‘SAMADHI AT OLD CENTRAL JAIL’

‘SAMADHI AT OLD CENTRAL JAIL’
Deccan Herald

Mayor Mumtaz Begum said she would have offered five out of the 25 acres of the Old Central Jail grounds on Seshadri Road for Raj’s samadhi, had she been in Bangalore. Speaking at a condolence meeting organised by Kannada organisations in the Cantonment area on Sunday, Ms Begum said she was in China during Raj’s death and moreover, the government had already made a decision in this regard.

The Bangalore City Corporation has already decided to name the new glass house in Raj’s name and install a bronze statue of his in front of Town Hall.

Begum said she would consider two demands in the next council meeting. One, to rename Rajajinagar as Dr Rajkumar Nagar and the second, from a section of the Banaswadi and surrounding area corporators to name the Banaswadi Main Road after the actor.
