BANGALORE: Vehicular traffic was thrown out of gear for more than four hours in the central parts of the city on Tuesday evening as Muslims took out huge processions on the occasion of Id-Milad.

As hundreds of young men took out processions of two-wheelers, autorickshaws and matadors, vehicular movement was badly hit on J.C. Road, N.R. Road, Kempegowda Road, Seshadri Road, Mission Road, Lalbagh Road, Hosur Road, Kasturba Road, Nrupathunga Road, Cubbon Road, Palace Road, Goods Shed Road and others major roads in central areas.

Because of traffic jams, not only the motorists but also the Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation commuters were put to hardship.

The worst affected were commuters of BMTC buses as drivers avoided the crowded areas and made a detour to reach the destinations. At several places, passengers of the crowded BMTC buses were seen getting down from the buses and walking towards their destinations. As the vehicular movement came to a near halt near the busy Hudson Circle, the police closed J.C. Road for traffic by putting barricades..
