Yeshwanthpur station will see a sea change

Bangalore: The next time you visit Yeshwanthpur railway station you will see a sea change. That’s because the railway station will now have video operated enquiry system (VOES), the first in state, along with prepaid taxi stand, coin operated platform ticket machines plus an air-conditioned lodge.
South Western Railway general manager T N Perti, who inaugurated VOES and laid the foundation stone for the lodge on Wednesday said all the new facilities will be in place within four months. The facelift — which will cost Rs 4.33 crore — also includes an additional platform and providing 400 metres of shed along with facility of benches and drinking water. The new service building will be built on 321 sq meters of land will be situated on platform 6 and will initially have a gents and a ladies waiting hall, an AC lounge and a cloak room along with a cafeteria. Rest rooms for the railway staff will be on the first floor.
HOW IT WORKS?
In the enquiry window, passengers will find a TV screen on which they can see the control room official. The passenger has to speak in the microphone near the window and the official’s can be heard through a speaker near the window.
