Bangalore: The differences between Mayor Mumtaz Begum and Bangalore City Corporation Commissioner K Jothiramalingam over developing roads in the IT/BT corridor could result in axe falling on the latter in the form of a transfer .

Differences had cropped up between the two over works taken up on 19 roads. Following reports in the media, Chief Minister H D K umaraswamy made a surprise inspection of the 80-Feet Road and other roads in Indiranagar and expressed displeasure over the functioning of BCC.

According to sources, the BCC Commissioner’s transfer is possible for various reasons. Jothiramalingam, who was serving as managing director of Karnataka Power Corporation Limited, was brought to the BCC by former Chief Minister Dharam Singh.

The Karnataka High Court had rapped the BCC for failure to provide adequate civic amenities to citizens, they said.

With projects like the merging of City M unicipal Councils and a T own M unicipal Council with the BCC on the cards, the sear ch is on for an able and efficient senior IAS official, sour ces added. Accor ding to rumours in the corridors of Vidhana Soudha, IT&BT Secr etary M K Shankarlinge Go wda or Ashok K umar C Manoli, who has been r emo ved from the post of BWSSB chairman, may r eplace J othiramalingam.
