Busy schedule for new MD

The change in guard in Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation (BMRC) will not slacken the pace of Bangalore Metro project.

The change in guard in Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation (BMRC) will not slacken the pace of Bangalore Metro project. Or, so believe the BMRC staff who went through their routine on Wednesday, a day after BMRC Managing Director K N Srivastava was suddenly shunted out without posting.

“Things are at such a stage that a change in MD will not affect the implementation of the project. The preparatory work is almost over and we are just awaiting the Cabinet clearance, likely by March 23, after which we will be ready for action,” said a senior BMRC official.

Meetings were held on schedule, despite the absence of the MD.

The new MD, V Madhu, who has been transferred from his New Delhi posting, is likely to straightaway get into action, sources said. “The new MD will require at least three months to understand the situation, but he may not get that breathing space.

“Processes have been planned back to back, and there will be busy days ahead for the MD and the rest of the staff,” they added.

The only event that seems to have been indefinitely postponed is the shifting of the BMRC office to its new premises in Shantinagar, which was scheduled for inauguration by Chief Minister H D Kumaaraswamy on Wednesday.
