Bangalore: The multiplex fever seems to be catching on in Bangalore, with INOX Leisure Ltd, which opened its first multiplex at Garuda Mall here in August 2005, deciding to set up three more at Malleswaram, Jayanagar and Koramangala.

The Malleswaram multiplex would have seven screens with 1,720 seats, Jayanagar multiplex with four screens and a seating capacity of 1,100 seats and Koramangala one would have 1860 seats spread across seven screens, according to a release here today.

The INOX multiplex at Garuda Mall, having five screens and 1,100 plus seating capacity, was designed by New Zealand-based Walker Architects.

INOX, in its six years of existence, had a wide presence with eight operational multiplexes and 32 screens across seven cities - Mumbai, Pune, Vadodara, Goa, Jaipur, Kolkata (two multiplexes) and Bangalore. It planned to add two more multiplexes with a total of six screens in Indore and Darjeeling during the current financial year. In 2005-2006, apart from Bangalore, INOX would take its expansion plans to include cities like Hyderabad, Chennai, Lucknow, Visakhapatnam and Jaipur, the release said.

The company had entered into a strategic alliance with the Pantaloon group that provided INOX with preferential access to all the real estate developments that were either funded or managed by the Group, it added.
