The one-time Jayanagar Police Station is back in business, housed in a swanky, new building in place of the old.

The renovated Jayanagar Police Station building was inaugurated by Director General of Police (Home Guards) S Mariswamy and put into operation on Monday.

Hyderabad-based construction company, GMR Group, renovated the station under public-private partnership scheme. The new building measures about 2,500 sq feet, has two floors and was built at a cost of Rs 30 lakh. A meeting hall, upgraded lock up rooms, separate rooms for writers, a rest room, computer rooms and facilities for public who visit the station to lodge complaints are some of the new features.

The 84 policemen attached to the Jayanagar police station are a happy lot as they say, they have “had enough of the theatre” (Puttanna theatre in 4th Block), where they were temporarily stationed during the renovation.
