Koramangala residents are forcing in the political class and the government. The latter, who were keeping mum on the court-ordered drive against violation of building by-laws and zonal regulations, were in the picture on Wednesday.

A delegation of residents reportedly met Chief Minister Dharam Singh and apprised him of the demolition drive under way. A member of the delegation said that the Chief Minister is likely to hold consultations in this regard on Thursday.

The Chief Minister was requested to try and regularise the ready structures with suitable penalties and tighten the measures for new and upcoming buildings, he said. Elected representatives of Koramangala area - Uttarahalli MLA R Ashok and Kanakapura MP Tejaswini Sriramesh have also assured the residents to take up the matter with the government.

The leaders addressed the agitating residents at Koramangala 5th Block and appealed for calm. Sources said that the two leaders also met the Chief Minister on Wednesday. The BMP may go easy on the demolition drive in the next 24 hours.
