The Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BMP) has taken up the improvement of 40 arterial and sub-arterial roads, totalling 130 km, with the assistance of World Bank’s Rs 140 crore loan.

The work on the following seven roads of 29 km at an estimated cost of Rs 31.50 crore has begun:

Kammanahalli Main road, from Marutiseva Nagar to 100-ft ring road; Ejipura main road to Sarjapur main road; NR Square to Hosur road via Mission road, Blood Bank circle and Langford road; Bannerghatta road from Lasker Hosur road to 100-ft Ring Road in J P Nagar 3rd Phase; Kathriguppa Main road from 100-ft ring road to Vidyapeeta circle; Padarayanapura main road from Tank Bund road to Chord road; Magadi road, from Deviation road to Sunkadakatte via Jaimunirao circle and Ring road.

“The work will be completed by June 2006,” according to an official press release.

The BMP has also taken up the improvement of 10 roads in the IT and BT corridor. M G Road to Dickenson road (from Brigade road junction to Trinity circle); Airport road, from the junction of 100-ft road to Suranjan Das road junction; Jeevanbeema Nagar Main road; 12th Main road Indiranagar; Ulsoor road, from Trinity church junction to Dickenson road junction; Koramangala 20th Main road, from National Games Village to Forum; Magrath road, Brigade Road junction to Richmond road junction; Mayo Hall junction to Lifestyle junction; 80 ft road, from Old Madras road to Airport road via Kodihalli; Koramangala 1st A Cross road, from 100-ft road to 20th Main road.

The work on Airport road, JB Nagar main road and Indiranagar 12th Main road has already started and is expected to be completed by December of this year.
