Vikas Soudha: Reasons for cost escalation to be unearthed soon

A committee constituted to examine the reason behind cost escalation in constructing Vikas Soudha will submit its report within 15 days.

The State Cabinet on Wednesday had deferred a decision on payment of the cost escalation bill for Vikas Soudha to the tune of Rs 47 crore submitted by the private construction company - Shirke Construction. The Cabinet will now take up the matter after the panel - headed by Chief Secretary B K Das and Urban Development and PWD Principal secretaries as its members - submits its report.

The panel will examine how Vikasa Soudha’s cost went up from the initial Rs 100 crore to Rs 146 crore.

Meanwhile, a senior minister pointed out that this was not the first time that the cost escalation subject matter in the construction of Vikasa Soudha was discussed by the Cabinet.
