She was being rushed to a Bangalore heart hospital from Hosur
Bangalore: The heavy downpour in the southern and central parts of Bangalore in the latter part of the day coupled with traffic jams added to the woes of Bangaloreans returning home from work.
The traffic jam took a toll with a heart patient, being rushed to a Bangalore heart hospital from Hosur, succumbing enroute on the busy Double Road. The ambulance carrying the patient was stuck in the midst of a traffic jam and the driver could do little to cross over. Hapless motorists watched the patient and her attendants struggling in the ambulance before the patient died.
The ambulance driver, who was also weeping along with the patient's attendants, said it took him four hours to cover nearly 50 kilometres from Hosur to Bangalore. He first attempted to admit the patient at the Government Jayadeva hospital but could not enter the premises owing to water logging. Some passersby advised him to take the patient to the Mallya Hospital and all his efforts were in vain. The driver said he was witness to traffic jams from Hebbagodi on the Hosur Road.
