Delegates thumbs down for Bangalore

Delegates thumbs down for Bangalore
VIJAY TIMES NEWS

Bangalore: The City’s ’Silicon V alley of Indi sobriquet is taking a beating overseas with several foreign business delegations visiting Bangalore in the past few months giving it thumbs down due to its poor infrastructure.

Many respondents have vowed never to visit the City again citing "poor quality o roads", "unorganised and unplanned city", and "worst city even among the Indian cities".

These reactions have come the most unexpected quarters - the feedback forms at luxury hotels where most of these delegations stayed. These forms included queries asking delegates to rate the City as ’very good’, ’good’, ’average’ or ’worse’. A majority of them chose the last option.

One respondent said if the City were to be rated on a scale of 10, he would have awa ed it a negative grade. Most respondents had a misgivings about the highly congested roads, with some writing that they were forced to leave their hotels for "several hours before flight departure" for fear of missing their flights.

By itself, the harsh feedback could be ignored as that from "just another unhappy tourist", but industry experts feel these de gations may never want to do business with anyone here. This is a far-cry from what politicians dreamt of - transforming Bangalore into Singapore.

However , there was one saving grace. The respondents have appreciated the homely nature of Bangaloreans who they perceive as educated, and have praised the City’s salubrious climate.
