IBM treads cautiously

IBM treads cautiously
The Times of India

Bangalore: Following protest by Kannada Rakshana Vedike on Saturday, IBM India took precautionary measures to ensure safety of its clients and staff working at its campus on the Koramangala Intermediate Ring Road on Monday.

Most employees received a mail requesting them to report to work early. However, some who did not manage to access the mails on Sunday ended up reporting to duty at usual hours.

“We got a mail from our head asking me to report to work very early and some of us were there at 6.45 am. Nothing untoward happened. But these measures are being taken only to ensure employee safety,” an IBM employee said.

“It is sad to see IT companies operate under fear psychosis of being attacked. Actually, it is unfair to even make them go through such an experience,” an industry official said after hearing IBM’s proactive measures.

While the police provided additional security throughout the day, IBM ensured all vehicles were parked in the basement. “The company strengthened all access points to the facility on Monday. No visitors were allowed for most of the day and work was not affected,” another IBM employee said.
After staging protest demanding jobs for Kannadigas at Infosys on Tuesday, Kannada Rakshana Vedike held a similar protest in front of IBM on Saturday.

Hello - I am just pasting a mail I got from a friend. Keeping aside usual rhetoric, I feel it is a shame that our fellow indians who are making Bangalore their home to earn top dollars are insensitive and lack courtesy. Hope things change:

Hi Friends,
This is very bad news for all of us who loves Kannada & who are patriotic of Kannada & who are Kannadigas...I mean Software Engineers.........Well I will tell U what happened to feel BAD :-(
Yesterday IBM conducted AMS Imprint function (Party) in Bangalore Palace ground. There all IBM employees were present & in the function First Viva girls (Channel V VJ's) Anuksha & Mauvva came to the stage...every body whistling when she made an entry to the stage. But when she wants to sing a Kannada Song (little stanza) almost all IBM employees are shouting NOOOOOO!.....U know at the moment Viva girls also surprised by looking atthe IBM people 'coz they thought its Bangalore & may be Kannada people are here but they both didn't realize its IT software company party where Karnataka state & Kannada people are not given priority..:-( Ok friends If this is the case its ok.......U know when Sonu Nigam & Saumya Rao (She istypically from Kanrnataka ,bangalore & Hindi Singer) came to stage........Sonu asked Saumya to sing a song in Kannada, the crowd ( non
- Karnataka IBM employees) almost all are again started SHOUTING NOOOOOOOOOOO! They didn't want Kannada song.....see that Kannada singer Saumya stopped in the middle of the Kannada song (She sing only 2 lines of kannada song, "BaBaro Rasika nodenna ee thaluka...") & started Hindi song.......This is the situation of Karnataka people in Karnataka.........Even the outsiders (artists) wish to sing a kannada song but the people who are landing & staying in Kannada Soil are not ready to listen.........:-( They need Hindi, Tamil and Telugu songs, not Kannada. Its very serious. So, I'm requesting you people to forward this mail to all the IT people who are kannadigas to all the regions.
