Arkavathy: court to hear appeals today

The Hindu

BANGALORE: The Karnataka High Court has listed for Tuesday the appeals against a single judge order quashing the Arkavathy Layout project.

The State Government, the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA), and the former Chief Minister S.M. Krishna, who is now Governor of Maharashtra, have appealed against the April 15 order of a single judge quashing the notification by the BDA for the formation of the layout.

The single judge had observed that the BDA action in acquiring lands for the layout

amounted to "Robbing Peter to pay Paul" and also held that there was no public interest involved in it.

While both the State as well as the BDA are seeking to implement the project, Mr. Krishna is seeking expunction of the remarks made against him by the single judge.
