‘Gowda has no right to talk about graft’

‘Gowda has no right to talk about graft’
The Times of India

Political parties gave a mixed reaction to JD(S) supremo Deve Gowda’s assertion that IT firms are grabbing land and allotment to companies like Infosys must be examined. Chief minister N Dharam Singh chose to be guarded, though. He said: “I received Gowda’s letter on Infosys only today. I will examine it.’’ As for other parties, here is what they had to say:
Gowda has no moral right to talk about corruption. The property he and his family have amassed should be investigated first. In 1978, Gowda did not even own a car, but today he owns many properties. He is raking up controversies to win votes in the coming ZP-TP elections.
— A K Subbaiah (spokesperson for Siddaramaiah’s JD(S) faction)

What whisper campaign is Gowda talking about? The BJP is and will go hammer and tongs at him. He is putting obstacles in every inf r a s t r u c t u re project, be it the inter national airport (over venue) and the Bangalore Metro. When a MPs’ delegation from Karnataka met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on the ONGC project, Gowda did not lift his little finger. In sum, Gowda is against reforms, progress and development. — Ananth Kumar, BJP national general secretary.

Farmers have gained with software companies coming to Bangalore and buying their land. I don’t blame Gowda because he is justified in his attacks as he has to build his party. But it is the duty of chief minister N Dharam Singh to defend the Congress. Gowda’s actual target is Maharashtra governor S M Krishna. — Tejeswini Sriramesh (Congress MP)

He keeps changing his stand on important issues, according to convenience. I don’t want to react. I will speak at the appropriate time. — S Bangarappa (Samajwadi Party state president).
