BANGALORE: The Bangalore-Mysore State Highway is yet to see completion though PWD Minister H D Revanna had declared the work would be completed before Dasara.

The four-lane Bangalore-Mysore State Highway from 11.60 km to 82.50km (Jnanabharathi circle to Maddur) is expected to be completed before April 2006 and the lane from 82.50km to 135.35km (Maddur to Mysore) before May 2006.

Efforts are being made to complete these two projects and to allow four-lane traffic on this road before the end of September. But the authorities failed to complete the road in spite of work being done day and night.

Officials, however, attributed the delay in the completion of the roadwork to incessant rainfall. They claimed if the work were undertaken during the rainy season then the roads would have been damaged thereby doubling the work.

Also, the Bitumin Macadum layer should be laid when there is no rain. The incomplete stretches are also located at both the ends of the Highway, Bangalore and Mysore.

However, a four-lane portion has been completed in the middle stretch. Efforts have been made to complete the left side road stretch at Kengeri but this could not be completed due to rain.

If there is no rain for a few days then it will be opened for the traffic.

A four-lane stretch near Kumbalagod industrial area has been opened for the traffic. Apart from this, the other roads opened for traffic include railway over bridge Kengal, Kanva river at Doddamalur,Sivapura village, Hale Budanur village,Induval, Shettihalli and Baburayana Koppalu.

In addition to this is, a new road will be constructed after the replacement of rural water supply pipeline.
