BDA, BCC next on Gowda's hit list

BDA, BCC next on hit list
The Times of India

Bangalore: If you thought Deve Gowda’s fusillades have stopped with Infosysbashing, hold on. There’s more to come.
Gowda on Saturday said he has got more IEDs (improvised explosive devices) in his bag. “Don’t think I will stop here, next it will be the BDA and BCC,’’ he said.

He has a reason to take on the BDA — several mega projects were taken up by Jayakar Jerome as commissioner, who is presently at Mumbai Raj Bhavan. Regarding BCC, Gowda showed a trailer of what is to come when he criticised the Bangalore Agenda Task Force (BATF) — Krishna’s initiative. Stating that the BATF had developed software for BCC to introduce fund-based accounting system, Gowda asked: “Who were the developers, what was the cost and who paid it?’’ He also ridiculed the concept of Nirmala toilets and the idea of redesigning bus shelters.

On public-private partnership to improve urban governance, Gowda asked: “Everyone is now talking about evaluating urban governance, why hasn’t no one thought of doing the same in the rural set-up for the last 50 years?’’
