Plea on CDP rejected

Karnataka High Court on Wednesday rejected an application filed in a public interest litigation (PIL) challenging the latest draft Comprehensive Development Plan published by the Bangalore Development Authority.
A division bench comprising Justice P Vishwanatha Shetty and Justice H G Ramesh dismissed the application filed by B Krishna Bhat.
He had filed a PIL in 1997 alleging that the authorities had allowed illegal constructions in the green belt areas earmarked in the CDP-1995.
As that petition was still pending in the High Court, the petitioner filed an application in the same petition challenging the latest CDP.
While dismissing Krishna Bhat’s application, the Bench gave him the liberty to file a fresh petition challenging the latest Comprehensive Development Plan.
