BANGALORE: Malleshwaram residents have made their voices heard. The campaign led by Malleswarm Swabhimanaa Initiative (MSI) for a stink-free locality has taken off and the authorities, too, have been roped in.
A board indicating the way to the nearest public toilet was inaugurated at 9th Cross, Margosa Road, by BCC Deputy Commissioner M A Khalid on Sunday.
Corporator B Muniraju, who was present on the occasion, praised the residents and promised to start more Nirmala Souchalayas in the area.
He has also assured that he will provide more such signboards in the area.
Khalid promised all help from the BCC for the campaign.
The residents have for long been fighting against the stink created by people using open public places as toilets. The residents decided to take action and launched the campaign.
Malleswarm Swabhimanaa Initiative has come forward to put up boards at junctions. These boards will have a cartoon with a message asking the people to use public toilets.
The board will also have a map of the area, showing the way to the nearest public toilet or Nirmala Shouchalaya. The aim is to educate the people to use the public toilets and to keep the roads stink-free.
