A hi-tech and computerised parking complex, one of its kind in these parts, will be built at Gandhi Bazaar, under Basavanagudi Assembly constituency in Bangalore, soon.

The project is a joint venture between the Bangalore Mahanagara Palike and C S Holdings Developers. Chief Minister Dharam Singh is scheduled to lay the foundation stone for the complex on September 13.

The seven-storey complex will have five lifts through which the vehicles will be parked on the upper floors. The larger share of the parking space is for two wheelers - 400 in number - against 50 four-wheelers.

Four-wheeler parking will be at the ground-level and it shall be fitted with generators whereby the lifts can be operated even in case of power disruption.

Area legislator K Chandrashekar said the complex will be located at the spot where the BMP Gandhi Bazaar office currently stands.

Shop space for florists, vegetable vendors and traders presently operating out of the BMP premises in Gandhi Bazaar will be made available in the new complex, he said.

During the duration of construction, the public shall park their vehicles along the conservancy lanes, he said.

The construction of the building being taken up on build-operate-transfer basis is likely to be completed in 18 months.
