Information technology sector has no reason to complain: Prakash

Ponder over what you have done for the city, Minister tells industrialists
# No contributions from IT sector towards flood relief
# Govt. has to cater to needs of all sections of society
BANGALORE: Deputy Chief Minister M.P. Prakash on Tuesday lambasted owners of information technology (IT) companies for complaining about lack of infrastructure in Bangalore.
"It is unfortunate that these crorepathis (industrialists) think they form a major chunk of the city's population. The city comprises people from all professions. The Government has to cater to the needs of all sections of society and not just the IT sector," he said.
He was speaking at a function organised by the Bangalore Mahanagara Palike to mark the inauguration of the National College flyover and the launching of the project to construct a high-tech lift parking complex in Gandhi Bazaar in Basavanagudi Assembly Constituency.
Mr. Prakash said that no one from the IT industry contributed towards relief measures after the recent floods ravaged several parts of the State and affected life.
"But they are quick to complain about the lack of infrastructure," he said. Instead of asking what the Government has done to improve Bangalore, why cannot the industrialists ponder over what they have done for the city," the Deputy Chief Minister asked.
