Monsoon exercise for peeved pedestrians!
Monsoon exercise for peeved pedestrians!

The large pool of water near the turnoff from Hosur Road at Bommanahalli Gate, made its presence felt with the first monsoon bursts.
It refused to acknowledge the existence of stormwater drains. It did not drain away even after the rains paused for breath over the past two days. It has not completely evaporated yet.
Those who try to get across the water and slush in their vehicles still get the uncomfortable feeling of their stomachs giving out under them. Pedestrians have no go but to make great leaps across it.
So what should be done if a huge pool of rainwater parks itself on the highway, and refuses to go? Dig a trench from pool to drain, appears to be the answer that has struck someone at the Bommanahalli CMC. At least that seemed to work a bit, with some success achieved at the fringes of the pool.
But the problem, alas, will have to wait till the monsoons end, it appears. Udayshankar, who recently took charge as commissioner of the Bommanahalli City Muncipal Corporation, explained that a long-delayed Rs 6 crore package to spruce up roads in the CMC will have to wait till the monsoon.
‘Span’, the third party they had consulted on the matter, had advised them to take temporary measures and do the actual work after the rains, he said.
The package has been delayed three years, he said, but the next monsoons will not witness similar problems. Of course, people are quite expected to hop, jump and skip till such a time.
