Get set for some mind-blowing fun

A caterpillar train that winds its way about in what appears to be a large anthill, a stomach-churning space journey in a theatre with wildly shaking seats, and a variety of rides, have all sprung out of the ground, almost discreetly, at Bidadi, about 35 km from Bangalore.
The 85 acres of the “Wonder la” amusement park will open for the public in September. It will feature about 70 rides, on land and in water. It can accommodate 6,000 people “comfortably”, said Mr Kochouseph Chittilappily, managing director of Wonder la Holidays Private Limited. The group runs the popular Vegaland amusement park near Kochi.
There is a Ferris wheel that goes 80 feet above the ground at its highest, water pools and slides, an indoor musical fountain that doubles up as a laser show, on a wall of water, and a series of rides that explore the three dimensions of space – not to mention the fourth dimension, time.
Ozoned out
Mr Chittilappily said not only was the water in the pools heated, it is also taken through a 24-hour multistage purification process that culminates with ozone treatment to kill all the germs.
Many of the rides are imported from Italian companies. Arun Chittilappily, the director of Wonder la said the park also has an ISO 16,001 certification
for environmental compliance and an ISO 18,001, for safety. The whole park has been built at a cost of Rs 77 crore.
Food at six or seven restaurants, which will be contracted out, will not be exorbitantly priced, keeping in mind that a large chunk of the clientele would consist of middle class families. A full thali meal, says Mr Chittilappily, will cost Rs 40. Both quality and quantity of the food (as well as the hygiene of the place) will be monitored closely, he added.
Entry fee is Rs 480 on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays; and Rs 380 on all other days. Schools get a 50 per cent discount, and colleges 25 per cent. Mr Chittilappily assures there will be no extra charges, like parking fees.
