Bangalore: Vishnuvardhan, who has been chosen by the Filmfare as Best Actor for his role in Apthamithra , has credited the achievement to the people of Kar nataka, saying it is because of their love and affection that he has won the award.

Speaking to The Times of India from Mysore where he is busy with the movie Vishnu Sena, Vishnuvardhan said: “I also thank Almighty and the entire team of Apthamithra for their excellent cooperation in making the film a success. I cannot see anything better than this.’’

Remembering late Soundarya (who has won Best Actress award), he said he would miss her at the award presentation function. “I remember when she won Filmfare award for Dweepa, I had won it for Yajamana and we both took the award on the same dais. This time she is not there. I really miss her.’’

Producer Dwarakish had a dream in his life to win the Filmfare award. “And now God has opened his eyes and given my film five awards. All these days I was waiting for this opportunity patiently and it has borne fruits. My thanks to the audiences who have seen the movie and encouraged it,’’ Dwarakish said from New Jersey.

Director Vasu, who has bagged the Best Director award, said that he would dedicate the award to the audiences of Karnataka. “The audiences of Karnataka are very intelligent. In Apthamithra, I have highlighted split personality and the Kannadigas have accepted it. But we really miss Soundarya.’’

Gurukiran (best music director) is happy that he is receiving the Filmfare award for the third time. “I’m known for directing music to young generation. But in Apthamithra, I have tried classical tunes which have clicked.’’

Ramesh, who has donned the role of Vishnu’s Apthamithra (close friend), says in the movie, the content of the story is the king, hence it has clicked. “I’m glad that the film won five awards which is really a phenomenon.”
