Civil works on the proposed Peripheral Ring Road (PRR) will commence after the revised Comprehensive Development Plan-2015 is approved, Chief Minister N Dharam Singh said on Wednesday.
The 108-km PRR will be taken up at a cost of Rs 990 crore, Mr Singh told reporters in Bangalore after convening a high-level meeting to discuss the CDP.
Nearly 3430 acres needs to be acquired for the project, BDA Commissioner M N Vidyashankar, who was also present said. The eight-lane PRR will have 14 meters of service road on either side, he said.
Twelve radial roads will connect the existing Outer Ring Road with the PRR, he added.
Mr Vidyashankar said that work on the proposed hi-tech city will be completed in eight months after the High court vacates the stay in the Arkavathi Layout case.
Work on the proposed six-lane 8.5 km stretch from Bellandur to Electronics City is also expected to be completed in eight months.
Two steel bridges will be installed on the proposed stretch, which will reduce travel time from the existing one-and-a-half hours to 15 minutes, he said.
Metro Project
When asked about the status of the long-pending Bangalore Metro Project, Ms Shamim Bhanu, Principal Secretary, Urban development department, who was also present, said the Project Investment Board (PIB) of the Centre is expected to discuss the issue on June 15. Mr Vidyashankar said that work on the Anandarao Circle flyover will be completed by November 1, much ahead of its scheduled date of completion.
