Successive governments have spoken endlessly about improving Cubbon Park. On Wednesday, the government did it again.

Horticulture Minister Alangur Srinivas visited the park with a host of media persons and unfurled a string of grandiose plans to give it a face-lift.

The plans are all in its nascent stage.
The Park will soon be studded with musical fountains, carpets of grass, surgically spruced-up trees and dustbins at regular intervals.

Jogging track

A joggers track for walkers is also on the cards, provided the vehicular movement around the park is plugged. Mr Srinivas revealed these plans in a true ‘walk the park’ style on a sunny afternoon.

The Minister along with horticulture officials in tow inspected the length and breath of the park to decide on landscaping aspects.

“A draft proposal of Rs 2.17 crores will be sent to the government for consideration. Of which, Rs 95 lakh will be utilised for setting up musical fountains”, he said.

Security measures
Adequate security measures will be taken to prevent anti-social elements from creeping into the park, he added.

Pointing at the High Court, Mr Srinivas said a temporary parking lot space (150*30 feet ) will be provided for the advocates within the next four days.
