Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) along with several business houses in Bangalore on Saturday decided to join hands with all utility providers for upgrading infrastructure facilities such as road, footpath, bus bays and scientific disposal of waste.

Representatives of CII and other business firms, who participated in the meeting of the Empowered Committee for Project Monitoring and Implementation, held under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary K K Misra, have assured to give away a part of their land to civic agencies, if necessary, to take up developmental works.

The Committee, which held its first meeting comprised of chiefs of all utility providers, Mayor R Narayanaswamy, leaders of the opposition parties in BMP Council and representatives of industries.

Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BMP) Commissioner K Jothiramalingam gave a presentation on the ongoing and proposed projects of the BMP to improve infrastructure, while representatives of industries gave some suggestions on the need for changing technical specification for road asphalting and disposal of e-waste generated by electronic and IT industries, official sources said.

Mayor Narayanaswamy said that lack of coordination among utility providers is the main reason for bad state of roads. “Hence, all agencies should devise a system to ensure effective coordination,” he added.
