BANGALORE: In commendable effort add value to its services, Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has introduced a pick-up-and-drop facility in Bangalore and Mangalore in addition to the courtesy coach service already being operated in the city.

This value-addition is aimed at benefitting passengers travelling in late-night buses or arriving in the city early in the morning.

With this facility, passengers are now picked up at the 109 KSRTC reservation counters in the city and a few ‘via locations’ during the onward journey by the same bus that they travel in. The same bus they journey in at select points in the city on arrival in Bangalore, during the return also drops them.

All the passenger has to do is choose the nearest point from the list. A total of 32 buses belonging to various luxury categories and all major city areas on the buses’ route are covered.

This new facility is not to be confused with the existing coach service available only to reserved seat passengers. This new initiative is for all passengers in the bus.

The courtesy coaches that ply on four ring routes -- Kempe Gowda Bus Stand (KBS)-BTM layout; KBS-Padmanabhanagar; KBS-Koramangala and KBS-Chandra Layout, covering over 50 locations each, transport reserved seat passengers to KBS for free, at different timings during the day.

Passengers with reservation can use their KSRTC ticket to travel in BMTC buses free of cost two hours prior to the departure. Call: 22872050 / 22873377 / 22870099/ 9844025544 / 9844021485.

Buses covered under new pick-up scheme are those headed toward: Dharmastala, Sringeri, Mangalore, Cannanore, Mantralaya, Kasaragodu, Pondicherry, Kudremukha, Kumbakonam, Hornadu, Vijaywada, Kollur, Kottayam, Chennai, Kurugodu, Palghat, Madurai, Kolhapur, Melukote, Balijakandriga, Villupuram, Hiriyadka, Mysore, Suratkal, Subramanya, Puttur and Kundapur.

Buses covered under the new drop scheme are those arriving from: Dharmastala, Sringeri, Mangalore, Mantralaya, Kasaragodu, Kudremukha, Cannanore, Kumbakonam, Horanadu, Vijayawada, Kollur, Kottayam, Chennai, Kurugodu, Palghat, Chennai, Madurai, Kolhapur,Sriharikota, Kuppalli.
