Arkavathi appeal: State wants a hassle-free layout

Bangalore: The state government is keen on ensuring the Arkavathi layout becomes a hassle-free project, according to Advocate General B T Parthasarathy.

The government has filed its submission in an appeal challenging the single judge order that had quashed the formation of the layout.

Parthasarathy told Vijay Times the appeal was filed last week and through it, the government had raised a number of questions regarding the formation of the layout.

He said the appeal raises contentions against every point in the order of the single judge. "Apart from the formation of the layout, the state also wants to ensure it is done in conformity with the law and it is also hassle-free," he said.
A single judge of the Karnataka High Court had quashed the notification for the formation of the layout. However, a batch of appeals had been filed challenging the same.

The court, while admitting the matter, had ordered that status quo be maintained on the project.
The matter was then posted before a Division Bench headed by Chief Justice N K Sodhi, who ordered a stay on the single judge order until disposal of the appeal and adjourned the matter.
