Bangalore: Karnataka chief minister N. Dharam Singh said on Friday that Bangalore’s population (including the floating population) had hit one crore, bringing with it big infrastructural challenges, including that of providing water.

He said the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) had recently agreed to part fund the Rs 3,384-crore Cauvery Water Supply Scheme (stage IV, phase II). He also expressed confidence that ONGC’s proposal for a Rs 25,000 crore petrochemical complex in Mangalore would be accepted by the Centre.
