CM’s hangers-on cause traffic snarls

Vijay Times News

Bangalore: The long convoy of vehicles of Congress party workers that followed chief minister during his 'city inspection' on Friday threw traffic out of gear at several points and caused traffic snarls on the busy roads.

The chief minister had chosen to take with him some of the MLAs and opposition leaders for the inspection. But a large number of his party workers also followed him in their vehicles with the result that the long convoy of over 50 vehicles drew large crowds at every work site and caused traffic jams.

The police had to work overtime to clear the mess.

Dharam Singh's 'inspection' was in the wake of complaints of poor and unscientific works on some of these projects, one of them being the vibration of the grade separator bridge at Rajajinagar. The chief minister directed the contractor to check the bridge design while a BDA official clarified that the vibration was natural and that the bridge was safe for traffic.

Other work sites visited by chief minister were: Madhavanagar under bridge, flyovers at Anand Rao Circle and Basavangudi National College, underpass at West of Chord Road and HSR layout.
