Transport hub awaits final nod
A proposed multi-purpose tower is awaiting final approval to transform the existing bus stand at Subash Nagar into a complete transport hub in future
The Times of India
The Bangalore Mass Rapid Transit Limited (BMRTL) is all geared up to take up the Rs 6,000 crore metro rail project slated to be completed by 2008. This means Bangaloreans will move faster and reach places quicker without hassles. Even while the proposal is moving to ground from the drawing boards, a project right in the heart of Subash Nagar bus stand is taking shape - a Rs 100-crore multi-purpose complex to further facilitate commuters to change from buses to trains and vise-versa.
A senior official of the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC), giving details about the project, said, "a detailed project report of the proposal is now with the technical committee consisting of engineers of BMRTL as well as KSRTC for final scrutiny. And once this is through we will take the project further by calling tenders".
The project envisages a metro rail terminal, a BMTC bus terminal and towering commercial complexes on a 32-acre plot. It may be noted, the two corridors - north-south and east-west on which the BMRTL plans to lay the metro rail, intersect each other here. Added to this is a bus terminal right inside the complex which means that commuters will save the time they would have spent walking all the way to the bus bays in the adjoining bus station.
"The multi-purpose complex will have shops, and boarding and lodging facilities along with other travel-related offices. We are exploring options in the complex to make traveling easier and more comfortable", he said, adding that adequate parking space is also on the list of amenities planned.
Once this project gets the green signal, this junction will be a complete transport hub as the City Railways Station is right opposite the proposed complex.

Like your blog. A lot of interesting information about my hometown. Like to read about the rapid changes, malls etc even though I can't be there to see it.
Keep it up.
These "ideas" and "proposals" have been floating around even before I was born. These days, I don't even bother opening articles as these. Bangalore's Metro Rail and International airport projects are jinxed!
