The Karnataka High Court on Tuesday directed the Counsel for State to accept a notice on behalf of the Government to seek instructions as to whether some arrangements could be made to enable advocates to use the road between Vidhana Soudha and Vikasa Soudha while coming from Basaveshwara Circle.

A Division Bench comprising Chief Justice N K Sodhi and Justice B Padmaraj gave these directions after hearing two public interest litigations (PILs), both filed by advocate N P Amrutesh.

One Public Interest Litigation challenges the need for the one-way system on Raj Bhavan Road as it serves only the VIPs.

The other Public Interest Litigationseeks a direction for the operation of the sub-way between Vidhana Soudha and the newly constructed Vikasa Soudha, the South Block of Vidhana Soudha.

The Bench also directed the State Counsel to seek instructions from the Government as to whether the subway between Vidhana Soudha and Vikasa Soudha could be made operational.
