Bangalore: After giving the Bangalore International Airport project the nod, the government hopes to clear the longawaited Metro rail project in the next 15 days.

“We hope to approve another pending project — the Metro rail — in the next 15 days,’’ CM Dharam Singh said here on Wednesday after inaugurating a Bell Research Labs centre at ITPL.

Outlining steps taken to improve infrastructure in the “fourth best technology hub’’ in the world, Dharam Singh said the BDA is constructing four new flyovers in the city at a cost of Rs 105 crore.

The BCC has taken up a project to asphalt 900 km of roads and to create 300 km of footpaths, the CM told a gathering, which included Bell Labs Research president Jeff Jaffe and telecom pioneer Sam Pitroda.

The CM reiterated that a new elevated road would come up on Hosur Road to link it with Electronic City at a cost of Rs 400 crore in participation with the IT industry.

The BWSSB is negotiating for Rs 3,400 crore in foreign funds to provide an additional 510 MLD of water to Bangalore. An MoU has been signed with the ONGC to take up Rs 24,000 crore worth of works, he said.
