BANGALORE: Mavalli Tiffin Room’s (MTRs) lip smacking masala dosas, rava idlis, kesari bath and coffee will no longer be the exclusive preserve of its restaurant near Lalbagh main gate.

Now, the group, which has grown in stature, is all set to open more restaurants. MTR managing partner Hemamalini Maiya told this website’s newspaper on Tuesday though there are several ‘‘Namma MTR’’ outlets in the city, there is only one restaurant and a cafe-cum-shop in Rajajinagar.

‘‘We are thinking of expanding the number of restaurants. It will not be done on a large scale as we want to ensure the quality and high standards are maintained,’’ she said.

Maiya received the Rotary Centennial Legend Award given away to commemorate Rotary’s 100 years of service. The MTR group was looking at places in and around J.P. Nagar and Koramangala to open its restaurant, she said. ‘‘We may begin with one restaurant in the city and one abroad, as there have been offers to open abroad too,’’ she added.

Mavalli Tiffin Room was started in 1905 as Brahmins Coffee Club. From a modest hotel, it has grown into a brand marketing ready-to-eat food products, curries, gulab jamun mixes and softy ice creams.

Nilgiris, Krishniah Chetty and Sons and Ganjam Nagappa and Sons also received Centennial awards, which were presented by Governor of Uttaranchal Suresh Agarwal. The event was organised by Rotary Bangalore Downtown for honouring institutions that have withstood time and becoming legends.

Recently We have purchased Diwali Sweets from MTR and distributed to our staff. I am doint it for the last 15t years from MTR only since it is quality oriented. This year, we were surprised to see and hear from our staff that the sweets purchased were not at all good quality. We took it to the Managemednt and they rejected telling us some flimsy reason. Is it MTR Quality oriented Still ???
One may tell lie but not all our staff. We deeply regretted for having purchased from MTR and certainly we may repeat the mistake and I will inform my friends alsos this not to go MTR especially for Diwali Sweets.
