Bangalore: Concerned over the nefarious activities of the land mafia in the City, the Karnataka High Court on Monday ordered a CoD probe into a land sale case.

Justice K L Manjunath gave the order while hearing a petition seeking action against three persons who had allegedly sold land through impersonation.

The petitioners, Kamalamma and her three children stated that they had inherited land measuring 2.5 acres bearing the survey number 57/2 at Varthur hobli, in the outskirts of the city.

They submitted that they were in possession of the land and had also constructed a complex on the same.
Kamalamma told the court that there were some persons who were pressurising to forgo the land which her husband had bequeathed. She submitted that she was taken aback when she realised that the land had been sold without her knowledge.

The station house officer of the HAL police station, in an affidavit stated that Kalamma and her children had appeared before him and lodged a complaint stating that they were the original owners of the site.
On inquiry, it was learnt that one Parvathamma along with her son Poonacha and an associate, Shiva had impersonated themselves as the owners and sold the land.

It was also alleged that they had obtained voter cards to prove their identity. A sale deed was then executed in the name of one Dambal.

The affidavit further stated that Parvathamma, Poonacha and Shiva had been arrested and produced before the court. The station house officer added that on questioning, it was revealed that one Allam Prabhu was alleged to be the main conspirator in the land deal.
