Bangalore: The International Society for Krishna Consciousness (Iskcon), Bangalore, has acquired a 70-acre site between Bangalore and Kanakapura to construct the world’s first Krishna conscious spiritual theme park — a spiritual disneyland.

The mega tourism project, to cost Rs 100 crore, is coming up in the Kanakapura Assembly constituency represented by Industries Minister P G R Sindhia.

It will consist of India heritage tourism park, showcasing the rich heritage of the country.

Recently, an Iskcon delegation led by its chief, Madhu Pandit Das, made a visual presentation of the project to Chief Minister Dharam Singh, with special focus on the heritage tourism park, aimed at attracting foreign as well as domestic tourists.

This project will complement a similar project that is to be constructed in the holy dhama of Vrindavana in north India.

According to sources in the Government, the project will come up for clearance before the high power committee on industries.

Sources said any mega project exceeding Rs 100 crore investment, if cleared by the high power committee, will automatically be entitled to tax concessions including tax holiday for three years under the State's industrial policy.

The park would house theme-based productions including ‘Dungeons of Hiranyakashupu’, where visitors will be presented a sound and light show on the birth of Lord Krishna, in the environs of an artificial dungeon and aqua screen shows, besides I-Max theatre expositions.

Films would be projected on giant water-based screens. Iskcon plans to link the park to Kanakapura Road via a ropeway or monorail.

The park will also house an open air theatre for performing arts, musical fountains, food park, an ayurvedic health spa, wedding pavilions and banquet halls. The project is expected to be completed in four years.
