Eagles, crows and dogs spread filth in City Market

Vijay Times news

Bangalore: The area around KR Market, also known as City Market, is notorious for traffic jams, heavy traffic congestion, lack or encroachments of the footpaths, open drains and urinals and general filth.
The nearby Briand Circle is no exception to these problems.

Hundreds of eagles and crows, flocking the Briand Circle area in the evenings, and stray dogs contribute their ‘mite’ in no small measure to the filth.

The birds and dogs come here to enjoy certain ‘delicacies’ — the waste thrown by mutton and chicken shops in the area.

The birds and the dogs, fighting for their share, end up dirtying the place and the surrounding areas.
This mess along with the stench from the open drains and urinals have made life a hell for the shop-keepers and shoppers apart from thousands of students in the area.

St Joseph’s Church, St Joseph’s College, several schools, St Mary’s Hospital and the police quarters are all situated in the vicinity of the stinking area. St Joseph’s College principal, Skaiah T C, said that the corporation had just ignored the problem despite repeated complaints.

Former corporator B V Ganesh told Vijay Times that this was a corporation property and initially was allotted for a petrol bunk which was never set up. Later, it was turned into a garbage dump.
