"Why blame defunct BATF for bad roads"?
‘Why blame defunct BATF?’

BANGALORE: Public Works Minister H.D.Revanna can’t get away by blaming the Bangalore Agenda Task Force (BATF) for the City’s bad roads. How can you blame an organisation that ceased to exist on Feb.1, asked a former BATF member on Wednesday.
The last BATF summit was held on Jan.31 and no action has been taken since, he said. The bad roads were a failure of individual Government wings and not a BATF lapse, the member said.
BATF required not just a mandate empowering it but also instructions from the leaders in power about the direction of work. This was not forthcoming from the present Government, he said.
The S.M.Krishna Government was actively interested in BATF meetings and had also taken stock of the work being done, he said.
BATF was a public-private partnership where citizens voluntarily worked to better the City and not a convenient scapegoat like the Minister made it out to be, he said.
