The non-Kannada film exhibitors on Sunday claimed to have made all arrangements for the release of new Hindi film, Veer-Zaara, in three theatres in Bangalore from Monday, even as the Kannada Film Producers’ Association threatened to stage a protest if the movie is released defying the three-week moratorium.

The owners of city’s cinema halls -- Cauvery, Swagath and Vaibhav -- have even sought police protection to go ahead with the release.

All three theatre owners met Police Commissioner S Mariswamy in this regard.
The release of Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Veer-Zaara was put on hold by exhibitors last Friday following the Producers’ Association’s threats of staging a protest. While the former held that they have nothing to do with the moratorium, the latter contend that the moratorium should be respected and new films should not be released for first three weeks.

All three theatre owners, in a release, said that the film will be released without the involement of distributors and that Mr Yash Chopra, who is the film producer, has directly given the film prints to be released on Monday, coinciding with Id celebrations.

“We are instructed by Mr Yash Chopra to release the film on the auspicious day of Id on Monday,” the release stated.

These theatres have also decided to issue tickets for the films for the entire week on Monday. The Producers’ Association President Basant Kumar Patil, on the other hand, said that the Association will not allow the release of the film. “We will not allow the release at any cost. It is impossible for them (exhibitors) to release the movie,” he added.
