BANGALORE, NOV. 14. The Vyalikaval police on Sunday arrested 70 activists of the Karnataka Rakshana Vedike and later released them when they were protesting against screening of new Hindi films at Cauvery cinema.
The police said the protesters gathered at the cinema to agitate against the proposed screening of the Hindi film, Veer Zaara, starring Sharukh Khan. But the cinema was showing Dil Ne Jise Apna Kaha. The protestors said if the cinema screened Veer Zaara on Friday then it would be in violation of the three-week moratorium on new non-Kannada films.
The protestors threatened a statewide agitation if the cinema went ahead with the screening.
The police took the protestors in a vehicle and later released them.
