High on shopping, low on road sense

High on shopping, low on road sense

BANGALORE: If you want to rate the average Bangalorean’s civic sense, K.G.Road during the festive season is the place to be.

A shoppers’ paradise for the middle class, the area handles thousands of moviegoers everyday. And now, it has shoppers thrown in for good measure.

In spite of a walkover constructed across the road for pedestrians, people spill out on to the road. There are those who rush from all directions to climb the median barricade and cross the road even though it can be fatal. Especially, at the junction below the walkover in front of Santosh theatre, even women wearing sarees manage to scale the barricade successfully.

Assistant Commissioner of Police for Traffic, West division, Rafique Mulla, said the recently-renovated walkover had eased traffic on the road considerably. He also said that additional traffic police personnel would patrol the road this season to direct pedestrians to use the walkover.
