Residency, Richmond roads to turn one-ways soon

Residency, Richmond roads to turn one-way

Bangalore: Is Bangalore becoming a one-way city? The latest to hit the list are Residency Road and Richmond Road, taking the total number of one-ways to 260. The rule will come into force within a fortnight.

Police commissioner S. Mariswamy issued an order to this effect on Saturday. “We will have to rearrange the traffic islands, signal lights and road dividers to implement the rule. We’ve requested the BCC to do the job and they have asked for two weeks time,’’ a senior traffic police official said.

In the last six months alone, over 50 roads were converted to one-ways. Separate bus lanes: The city police are likely to review the new lane system for buses on the stretch between Hebbal flyover and Cauvery junction.
This follows complaints from car drivers and scooterists, who felt that the stretch is too narrow at some places with too many right and left turns.
