BANGALORE: Bangaloreans can now visit Lalbagh not only for the Glass House and the ever-colourful flower show but also to view the first ever Orchid Dairy in the city coming up by the end of 2006.

The Horticulture department is spending Rs 4 lakh for this dairy, which will be an open-air repository. One can find all the 175 species of orchids that exist in the country in this floral tribute to the city.

The hitherto unnoticed two little islands in Lalbagh will soon blossom with colourful orchids. Assistant Joint Director S Ashwath said ‘‘These species that are very rare will be brought all the way from the Western Ghats.’’
