Massive transformation sweeping residential areas

A massive transformation is sweeping Bangalore's residential areas. Jayanagar is a perfect example of this. One of the largest residential areas, many of its arterial roads, earlier known for their tree-covered canopies and silent roads are being transformed into commercial and office spaces. Even two years ago areas in III, IV and V blocks of Jayanagar like 9th Main, 11th Main, 27th Cross and 22nd cross were quiet residential areas. Today very few of those houses stand. They have been quickly converted into shops and offices. The trees have all been pulled down. The green cover that shielded the earth from virtually every ray of the sun has been replaced by rays of heat radiating from the glass and granite structures. Not a day passes without another house or tree being pulled down. Nobody gives a thought to the impact this mindless commercialization is having on the environment. All the additional traffic that is generated due to these commercial buildings is wreaking havoc on the roads. None of these buildings are self-sufficient in terms of parking space. All that parking space adds to the burden on the road. Who cares? Not the authorities, not the neighbouring households. Certainly not those building those offices or shops nor those who occupy them. Since I am a resident of Jayanagar, I choose it to describe the changes first hand. I am sure this is a scenario that is true of every other residential area in Bangalore.
