BMTC heartened with the response to the fourth Bus Day

After the mixed reception accorded to previous Bus Days, the BMTC was heartened by the numbers that the fourth Bus Day attracted yesterday.

A large number of commuters boarded the BMTC buses to go to their offices at ITPL, Sarjapur Road, Hosur Road, Bannergatta Road and Outer Ring Road, on Tuesday.

Initially, people were unaware of the Bus Day. That has changed now following the media attention given to the initiative. More people are boarding BMTC buses, especially techies.

Anjan Kumar, a techie who travelled in a Volvo to ITPL said, "I missed the first Bus Day, but from the second month I have been travelling regularly by BMTC buses on Bus Day. It's good to travel in a BMTC Volvo once in a while."

The theme of the fourth Bus Day was 'Traffic Safety and Lane discipline'. Sampangi Ramgowda, Divisional Traffic Office (DTO), BMTC said, "We have got a very good response for the fourth Bus Day.

Every month the numbers of commuters are increasing on Bus Day. Bus Day will become more popular in the coming days."

"I have started travelling in BMTC buses every day. I save Rs 50 per day, which I spend by having snacks with my friends in the evenings," said Surabhi, another techie.
