Bus Day meets its objectives, says BMTC
Bangalore, May 4, DHNS:

The fourth edition of the ‘Bus Day’ on Tuesday saw a 25 per cent decrease in number of private vehicles on roads, according to the Bangalore Metro Transport Corporation (BMTC).

“The objective of the Day has been achieved with 25 per cent reduction in use of personalised transport on the designated corridors. Apart from creating awareness on use of public transport for commuting, the Day also laid emphasis on lane discipline and stopping the buses at designated halts by our drivers,” BMTC Managing Director Syed Zameer Pasha said. Minister for Transport R Ashok, travelled from his residence in Jayanagar to Vidhana Soudha on the occasion of Bus Day.

However, some commuters told Deccan Herald the Bus Day could be described more as a public awareness campaign. The Bus Day was observed on Old Madras Road, Old Airport Road, Sarjapura Road, Hosur Road, Bannerghatta Road and Outer Ring Road/Inner Ring Road.
